안드로이드 커롬 개발자들이 모인 XDA 라는 사이트 아실겁니다.
제가 쓰고 있는 폰이 갤포아인데, 최근 갤포아 포럼에서 논란이 일었는데
어떤 신규(다른 폰의 롬은 개발했었는데 갤포아용 롬은 처음인) 개발자가 올린 갤포아용 cm13 쓰레드에, 기존의 갤포아 개발자들이 크레딧을 제대로 안 남겼다고 항의하며 비난하기 시작했습니다.
(기존 갤포아 개발자들이 만든 작업물들과 매우 흡사하기 때문인 것으로 알고 있습니다)
그런데 그 개발자는, 자기는 오피셜 cm 작업들과 자기가 개발한 갤럭시 알파용 작업물들을 갖고 만든거고 뭐가 문제인지 모르겠다면서 싸우기 시작했는데
나중에 이런 포스팅을 남겼습니다.
"I did many open source work and my real name and mail address is credited in the Linux kernel source tree. All of the android ROMs use the Linux kernel. But I will not claim that their ROMs steal my work nor they forgot proper credits. Because I live in a open source community.
The credit of open source community is keeping the copyright of the source code.The theft of open source community is changing the copyright of the source code.
Using other open source is a base of the development in a open source community.
They claim that my work uses other open sources. As you know, the android ROM consists of many open sources; Linux kernel, AOSP, CAF, ffmpeg, and so on. I cannot understand their claims and I think they live in another open source community in another planet. Of cource I kept the copyright of the open source."
즉 오픈소스에서 크레딧이라는건 카피라이트를 유지하는 것이라는게 요지인데
다른 롬 개발자들의 쓰레드를 읽어보면 하나같이 이런 문구가 삽입되어 있습니다.
"'Opensource' does not mean 'no-respect'
Leave credits to original developers"즉 개발자들에 대해서 크레딧을 남기라는 건데...
뭐가 맞는건지 모르겠네요
오픈소스라면 오리지날 개발자들에 대한 크레딧을 안 남기고 카피라이트만 유지하면 되는건지
아님 오픈소스라고 해도 누가 작업해서 만든건지 찾아서 표기를 해야 맞는건지...
(일단 다른 롬이나 커널 개발자들 보면 "thanks to xxx" 하는 식으로 자기가 누구누구 작업물을 사용했는지 표시하고 있습니다)
저 사람 말에 따르면 "그렇게 따지면 그동안 예컨대 리눅스 커널에 기여한 사람들 다 찾아서 크레딧 남겨야지 왜 안남기냐"는데 이것도 맞는 말 같기도 하고 말이죠
뭐가 맞나요?
